We will have our Fortune Roll Cake available between January 30th through February 2nd to celebrate Setsubun.
Setsubun is the day before the beginning of spring in the Japanese lunar calendar and this year it falls on February 2nd.
On the night of Setsubun, people eat fortune rolls (Eho-Maki, which is originally a sushi roll) in a traditional way.
When you eat the roll, you have to face the good fortune direction of the year, make a wish and eat the entire roll in silence for good luck.
Our Fortune Roll Cake celebrates the same concept and the lucky direction for this year is south-southeast.
